Gus’s Solar has been running the same way since 2011 – owner on the job, name on the truck, crew doing the work themselves. Who We’re Looking For
- Solar Installer / Rooftop Technician: Comfortable at height, careful with penetrations, and the kind of person who double-checks their own work before calling it done.
- Solar Apprentice: No experience required – just a mechanical mind, a willingness to learn on the job, and the ability to listen before you touch anything.
- Battery Storage Technician: Familiar with electrical systems and patient enough to trace a problem to its actual source, not the first thing that looks wrong.
- EV Charger Installer: Solid electrical fundamentals and the kind of attention to detail that a homeowner notices when they look at the finished panel work.
- Solar Service and Repair Tech: Good at diagnostics, honest about what they find, and not interested in upselling a repair that isn’t needed.
- Customer Service and Scheduling: Clear on the phone, organized under pressure, and comfortable being the first voice a customer hears – because we pick up every call, 24 hours a day.

We don’t drop you on a roof with a YouTube video and hope for the best. Apprentices work alongside experienced lead installers on live jobs – real systems, real roofs, real feedback. As your skills grow, your responsibilities do too, and there’s a clear path from apprentice to lead tech that doesn’t take a decade to walk.

Solar isn’t a spring fling. Between installations, battery storage retrofits, panel cleaning, maintenance visits, EV charger jobs, and repair calls, the schedule stays full across seasons. We hire locally and keep people busy – we’re not a crew that balloons in summer and disappears in January.

If you’ve spent years in roofing, electrical, HVAC, construction, or any trade that puts you on a job site with your hands – a lot of what you already know applies directly. You understand fall protection. You read a work order. You know the difference between done and done right.
What we teach is the solar-specific side: how panels connect, how inverters talk to the grid, how battery storage systems like Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ Battery actually work, and how to walk a homeowner through what’s on their roof without overselling them. The first months are hands-on, working alongside a lead tech who actually wants you to get good at this.
We’ve brought people in from roofing, from the Navy, from the trades, from warehouse work. The common thread is that they show up on time, ask questions when they’re not sure, and care about the finished product. If that’s you, we’d like to hear from you.
