Read the full promise →A solar system is on your roof for twenty five years. The hardware decides whether that is twenty five quiet years or a service call every spring. Here is what we install, and what the cheap quote is really made of.
Every quote shows a panel count and a system size. What it usually does not show is the tier of the panel, which decides how much of that rating you still have in twenty years.
We install tier one monocrystalline panels with a documented degradation curve and a manufacturer who has been around long enough to honor a twenty five year warranty. The output on paper is the output on the roof.
Low tier panels from a brand that may not exist at claim time carry a warranty that is only as good as the company behind it. They degrade faster, and the shortfall shows up as a bill you thought you had eliminated.
The inverter is the part that fails first and the part nobody asks about. It also decides whether one shaded panel costs you one panel of production or the whole string.
We install panel level electronics, either microinverters or optimizers, so each panel reports and produces on its own. One shaded or failing panel takes down only itself, and the monitoring tells us which one.
A single central string inverter is cheaper up front and ties the whole array to one point of failure. Shade on one panel drags the string down, and when the unit dies the entire system stops until it is replaced.
Solar mounting means putting holes in a roof that was not leaking. Whether those holes ever leak comes down to how each one was sealed, and sealant alone is not a seal.
We use flashed mounts that tuck a metal flashing under the course above every penetration, so the water path is shingled over the hole. The roof sheds water the way it did before the array went on.
Lag bolts driven through the shingle with a bead of sealant over the head is the fast way. Sealant is a consumable, it cracks in a few seasons of sun, and then every mount is an open hole in the deck.
Nobody looks under an array once it is up. That is exactly why the wiring underneath is where cheap installs quietly fail, usually as an arc fault years after the crew has gone.
We clip every conductor into UV rated stainless clips on the rail, off the roof surface and out of standing water, with service loops that let a panel come off without cutting anything.
Nylon zip ties are the shortcut, and sunlight destroys them. Within a few years they snap, the wire drops onto the shingle, abrades under thermal cycling, and the array starts tripping on ground fault.
A solar system is the only thing you buy that is supposed to pay you back, and the only way to know it is doing that is to watch what it makes against what it was sold to make.
We commission panel level monitoring, set the expected production baseline from your design, and alarm on underperformance, so a dead panel is a phone call from us rather than something you notice on a bill.
System level monitoring, or none at all, is the cheap configuration. A failed panel just looks like a slightly cloudy month, and it can go a year or more before anyone connects it to the bill going back up.
Solar is the trade with the worst door-knocking reputation in America, and Gus is the answer to it: a shop with his name on it, numbers modeled on your actual bill and the current export rates, and no signature wanted tonight.
